Big Sur Highway Update:
The Big Sur Highway One remains open south of Monterey 40 miles to McWay Falls. Along the way are Rocky Point, the iconic Bixby Creek Bridge, Pfeiffer Redwoods, Nepenthe and many other places. The round trip from Monterey to McWay Falls with stops takes about 5 hours. The road is mostly 2 lanes, a small portion, about half a mile near Rocky Point, has one way controlled traffic. Almost daily we take customers there in an SUV for up to 6 people. The best time to start in the Monterey / Carmel area is 9:30 when the early morning fog starts to burn off and the sights, beaches, the Pacific Ocean, Redwoods and the cliffs are spectacular. You don’t have to drive and watch the road or look for parking.
